These brands/ people names all have an existing official translation, but speakers of Cantonese have come up with alternatives translations for them. They are called "nickname translations" because like a nickname of a person, they are coined by others rather than by their spokesperson/manager.
Do you know the following nickname translations?
Bonus (Not proper nouns, but humorous translation as well)
Next time I will provide a convincing semi- explanation for the phenomenon of nicknaming foreign proper names. Stay tuned! (Hint: It has to do with semantic vs. phonological processing. The Ellis and Young Model might come up! :P)
