Inspired by a "research" paper I wrote for Linguistics 6A on bad Chinese menu translations, the oldie TV show 開心字典, and my brother's practice of humorous convoluted translations (e.g.海綿人名四方褲), I came up with these silly translations during my weekend 3-hour run.
Let's play GUESS THE CARTOON!
估下下面亂譯一通既英文係邊d 90年代卡通片?
The following translations are convoluted and at times far fetched, but I take poetic license, ha! Puns, near-homophones, and out-of-order syntax are all fair game.
- The invisible sister returns
- A few horses prey on the hearing impaired
- Cannabis (just a little) steams nothing
- The last one laughs repeatedly, recommends yes
- The explorer... a dream
- Stomach growling, more trembling
- Should escape from the tiny courtyard
- Chocolate-covered sweets with spring-pearl almond
- The blinding scholar
- Microwave everything
- For the porridge, less sauce PLEASE
- Doorbell
